Like many of you that read this website, I am a big fan of the Drive By Truckers. Many of my friends have the opinion that they are too political, and even though I am a Libertarian, their politically laced lyrics do not deter me from being a fan.

A few of their albums were not as good as others, but I myself enjoy the albums where these three were the focus of the band. The trio played a ton of material from the 2004 album “The Dirty South”, and the album “Decoration Day”. Even though this album does not contain one of my personal favorite songs called “Daddy’s Cup” from the Dirty South album.

I watched many videos from this show, because I wasn’t thinking there would be any release like this of the event. There appeared to be absolutely no resentment between these former band mates, on the contrary, there seemed to exist an eudaemonic chemistry between them.

This era of the band has long since been a happy separation as Mr. Jason has gone on the record some of his greatest work solo, and the Drive By Truckers have equally gone on to record some wonderful albums. But if this ever became a permanent fixture to have these three on the front line again, I think it would revolutionize  another fantastic era of the Drive By Truckers.

For those of you that are like me, and collect different colors and pressings of the same album, this set will come in translucent blue and red, and pink and coke bottle clear ( as pictured above ).

From the Bandcamp media release :

On June 15th 2014, Jason Isbell reunited onstage with former Drive-By Truckers bandmates Patterson Hood and Mike Cooley for a special round-style night in Muscle Shoals Music. reunited for a show at the historic Shoals Theatre in Florence, AL to benefit Terry Pace.

The setlist includes acoustic versions of Isbell-era Truckers gems including “Heathens,” “Decoration Day” and “Zip City” as well as post-Isbell Truckers tracks like “Space City” and solo Isbell faves such as “Cover Me Up.”

The set opens and closes with a pair of classic Hood-sung numbers, 2004′s “Tornadoes” and 2001′s “Let There Be Rock.” Live At The Shoals Theatre is available to preorder here now as a limited edition 4 LP colored vinyl set on translucent blue & translucent red vinyl and on CD.
