Jim Lauderdale – Headed For The Hills

Available for the first time on Bandcamp!

You read that correct folks, and I’m hoping that vinyl sales follow this digital release  like other artists that do this. This album that came out in 2004 , and along with about 49 other albums that inspired me as a music fan, this album here would be one of the top ones.

Even though it came out for me at a later age, it still gripped a stronghold on me, as a solid album from a timeless icon. I also used this album during my divorce period as a catalyst for healing and moving on.

I dug and dug for music by many of my musical heroes in a three year period, and I just absolutely immersed myself into every album I could find. So many of these icons were releasing their most prime albums during the 90s and 2000’s, and Mr. Jim Lauderdale is one of them.

Today, for the first time, my album Headed For The Hills co-written with Robert Hunter will be available digitally via Bandcamp.

One of my heroes, Robert Hunter, very graciously agreed to write with me when I was about to begin my first record with Ralph Stanley and The Clinch Mountain Boys. Soon after, Robert came to visit Nashville for a few months and we wrote a lot. We chose some out of our batch of 33 songs and began the recording process with my friend, engineer and co-producer Tim Coats. Robert went back home and I gradually added more guests that he and I discussed and who he also wanted to play on these songs, including Gillian Welch and David RawlingsEmmylou HarrisBuddy MillerTim O’BrienDarrell ScottAllison MoorerBucky BaxterBryan SuttonByron HouseRandy KohrsDonna The Buffalo and many more.

So began the first of 6 records that I got to record of songs Robert and I wrote together through the years. Working with and getting to know him as a friend was one of the most profound and greatest things I could ever possibly experience and it’s still hard to believe it ever happened. Thanks for listening and hope to see you out on the road soon.
