The Panhandlers are a Texas country super group featuring William Clark Green, Josh Abbott, John Baumann and the front man of Flatland Cavalry Cleto Cordero. This project was produced by Bruce Robinson and it marks the first outing of this mega collection of Texas and Red Dirt country singers. This album was cut live straight to analog and done in a very lo-fi fashion so the production values might not be what you’d expect, but it is a very good record with lots of great performances. Whether you’re a fan of these four singers or not, you’ll find something to like here.
The album kicks off with “West Texas In My Eye” which is a love letter to west Texas where these singers are from. All four of the singers trade verses on a track written by west Texas songwriter Charlie Stout. It’s a great mellow start to the record and I dig the pedal steel here on this one. The title track “The Panhandler” is another great track that tells the tale of a panhandler. The banjo that rings throughout this track makes it a great upbeat number. I also love the harmonies on the chorus for this one. Finally, “This Is My Life” is an ode to the life on the road that these four singers live year round. It’s extra special because of everything going on in the world right now that is preventing these singers from living the life they describe in this song. I particularly love the final verse where Josh Abbott goes through and talks about all 4 of the singers on the record including himself.
The Panhandlers has been one of our most anticipated records of 2020 and it lives up to the hype. The lo-fi straight to analog production gives the album a live in the studio feel and these four singers live up to their billing of being a part of a Texas country super group. Time will tell if this ends up being a side project for these four or something they revisit from time to time. I hope I get the chance to see this band live as it seems like it would be a fun show. If it’s one thing I truly have been keeping my eyes on the Red Dirt world, and it’s west coast reach. Along with the Jamgrass community this is becoming a huge, massive community and quite the lucrative market even though it gets very little media attention. This lofty listening room is one of the festival’s signature venues. Only at MusicFest can you take a picturesque gondola ride up 3,000 feet for a high-altitude music experience like no other. These rare mountaintop concerts are a truly uplifting experience, both musically.

Larry Joe Taylor Festival or LJT is one of the state of Texas’ most revered and beloved festivals within the Red Dirt community and the state of Texas. It’s been a staple feature of my festival series for some time now, with more focus on this scene as my website grows into what I’m doing for the community all over America.

Every campsite must be kept clean – any campsite found to be left unclean will result in a $30 charge applied to the purchaser’s credit card. It is the original purchasers responsibility to make sure campsites have been picked up and cleaned upon leaving the festival grounds. No household furniture or large items may be left behind. Please have all trash bagged and ready for pick up upon leaving the festival grounds.

Water & Electric Sites
These sites each have water and a 30 amp electrical plug (please make sure you have the appropriate adapter for a 30 amp receptacle) All sites must be reserved for a minimum of 3 days.
These sites are a little larger than our normal sites and are located in “Shiner” Section on the map and are easy access to both the Bud Light Stage and the Allsups Stage.These sites will be sold in groups of 7,6,5,3,2 and a few singles will also be available. These sites have been carved out of a wooded area located next to section D & E. These siteshave plenty of shade and are in a low traffic part of the ranch campground. All sites must be reserved for a minimum of 3 days.
Preferred Camping Section A, B, C & F
These sites are located at the front of section F on the camping map. Section A rows A thru H, Section B, Section C & Section F sites 11-19 will be within 200 yards of the West Stage and adjacent to the parking area and The Tuesday night Campground Stage. All sites must be reserved for a minimum of 3 days.
These sites are marked sites in Section A rows I thru CC & all Tree Line sites, F sites 1-10, G, & H. By reserving these sites you will be guaranteed a marked off campsite in the section you choose. Sites are 32′ X 30′ in dimension. All sites must be reserved for a minimum of 2 days.
By reserving a Keystone non-reserved campsite you will be guaranteed a campsite, however these sites are not marked off and the location of your campsite will be on a first come, first serve basis when you arrive. These sites will be located in the Keystone non-reserved camping area only. Please limit these sites to a 30′ X 30′ dimension. All sites must be reserved for a minimum of 2 days.
Only one motorized vehicle is allowed per campsite. All other vehicles must park in the designated parking area. Vehicles without a camping decal will not be allowed to enter the campground at any time. Please make sure all camping supplies are in the vehicle that has a camping decal. Motor homes will be allowed to have one additional vehicle, however, the additional vehicle must be attached or directly behind the motor home upon arrival.
Camping decals will be mailed for each campsite purchased in advance. These decals should be place on the vehicle that will be parked at the campsite. The first set of camping decals will be mailed out at the end of March.
We have built a permanent 22 stall shower house to provide the needs of festival-goers. There will be eleven men’s and eleven women’s showers each having a handicap accessible stall available on the camping grounds.

Parking decals will grant your vehicle admission into the PARKING LOT, these decals WILL NOT give you any kind of of vehicle admission into the CAMPGROUND. These decals should be placed on the vehicle that will be parked in the parking lot. Parking decals are not transferable from one vehicle to another.
After you purchase your parking, You will receive an email within 24 hours with your parking barcode attached as a *pdf file for each decal. You must print and use these files to exchange for a decal to gain parking admission into the festival.

It’s almost time for LJT’s 30th Annual Texas Music Festival! The gates open at noon on Sunday April 22. T-Birds Garage Pub opens at 2pm . Justin Frazell’s Texas Red Dirt Roads will broadcast live beginning at 3pm. Larry Joe, Deryl Dodd, Mike Ryan and some surprise guests will be performing. Folks who can only attend this show can park their cars at the front gate and ride a shuttle to and from T-Birds.
Plenty of tickets/camping will be available at the gate. Tickets are also available locally at Signs and Designs and Barefoot Athletics. NewsComments Off on 2017 Music Festivals: Tumbleweed Festival.
This is a very very special edition of my festival article series folks, another mammoth outdoor festival in the Kansas City area so I’ll be researching hotels for this one people. My GOD the absolutely amazing lineup that has become one of the hottest upcoming events of 2017. Once I print you the lineup links you’ll not even need a second opinion before venturing over to the ticket link.
This is going to be a different take on most festivals folks because it’s going to involve more than just the bands and musicians they plan to include many of the fan factions of the artists as well. The festival director plans to include the popular support group of Cody Jinks called The Flockers, tomorrow I’ll be talking with one of their representatives concerning what their role will be in this event. I’ll be adding that conversation on this article as well as updating it many times before my crew and I head down there.
I’m telling you that right there in the middle of America we got Red Dirt meets touring Outlaw acts meets Americana acts all rolled into one big outdoor stage. I’m going to be studying this event thoroughly in the next few weeks, and I’ll be promoting this festival HEAVILY in the next few weeks.
Now folks some of these festivals I do a lot of work for, but this one I’ll be HEAVILY promoting and doing research for this one because this is their second year of operation, and we want to see this festival grow. Additionally I am currently attempting to bring in more Red Dirt Country into my format, so this worked out well on both ends.
An additional twenty-two hotels are located within 20 minutes from the festival site. They range from budget to four-star accommodations. I was recently out in this area last weekend and I got to see the venue firsthand, there are plenty of hotels and stores nearby.
In time I shall also research area restaurants as well, this article will be constantly added to in the next few weeks.

This is a family-friendly festival along the gorgeous Missouri River bank covered by mature trees with a playground. Kids 10 years and younger are free!
NO coolers inside Main Stage area (permitted only in camping)
NO Loitering, drinking or grilling in the parking lot (enforced by police)
NO sleeping in cars in the parking lot (enforced by police)
NO outside food or drink (permitted in camping)
NO weapons of any kind (includes pocket knives, pepper spray, fireworks, guns, tasers)
Contained fires are permitted until 2:30am and must be in a 36″ metal fire container with a screen on top (standard at all retailers). If you bring a fire pit, you must also have a 10lb fire extinguisher with it. We’re camping in a forest!
Grills are permitted.

– Printed off tickets. We will not accept electronic versions off of your cell phone, receipts, etc. Your ticket must be a hard copy printed off on paper. If your ticket does not scan you will not be granted access.

Parking is $30 per vehicle (except for RV’s) to encourage car-pooling and funds go to the city for the facility usage and cleanup.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS? DO THEY HAVE TO PAY?
Yes. Everyone is allowed in the event with a ticket. Kids 10 and younger are free!
DO I NEED TO PRINT OFF MY TICKETS?
Yes, you MUST print off your tickets on to paper. No other form will be accepted. We will be scanning printed off tickets only. If your ticket does not scan you will not be granted access.
WILL TICKETS BE AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE AT THE FESTIVAL GATES?
Yes, at higher ‘gate’ prices.

It’s open first-come-first reserve camping with a recommended space of 10ft x 15ft per person, but you can camp with friends, family, etc. No true restriction on a reasonable camping area :).
CAN WE LEAVE AND RE-ENTER THE CAMPGROUND AREA?
Yes, as many times as you want.
WHAT ARE THE GENERAL RULES FOR BUYING A CAMPING SPOT?
A camping pass is required to enter the camping grounds. One Camping Pass = One Entrance to Camping.
You cannot camp without a festival pass.
CAN WE BRING IN ALCOHOL?
Only campers can bring in beer and/or liquor to the campgrounds. No outside food/drink in the main stage area.
WHAT WILL YOU BE PROVIDING AT THE CAMPGROUNDS?
There will be 24hr security. There will be water and ice for sale, as well as ATMs and a variety of vendors within the venue.
WHAT EMERGENCY SERVICES WILL BE AVAILABLE ON SITE? WHAT SHOULD I DO IF I NEED EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE (MEDICAL, POLICE, TOWING, LOCKSMITH, ETC.)?
There will be medical assistance available throughout the campgrounds and festival site. You can stop any officer you see, or any staff member you see, for assistance.
WHERE SHOULD I GO IF I LOSE MY KEYS, MY WALLET OR MY FRIENDS?
Go to the Tumbleweed information/ticket booth near the main entrance of the festival.
WILL SMALL CAMPFIRES BE ALLOWED IN THE CAMPING AREAS? WILL YOU ALLOW FIRE BINS?
There will be no campfires of any kind allowed. Burn it down on the dance floor! Grills are permitted.
WILL THERE BE ANY ELECTRICITY IN THE CAMPING AREA?

IS THERE CELL PHONE SERVICE AVAILABLE THROUGHOUT THE FESTIVAL SITE?
Dependent on crowd size. WiFi connections may be available for a small fee.
ARE WE GOING TO BE ABLE TO CAMP NEXT TO OUR CARS?
No. Upon arrival, you will be directed into the main parking area. Camping is located within the park therefore no cars are allowed. Please walk your belongings to the camping area which is very close to the parking lot.
CAN WE BRING WATER INTO THE MAIN CONCERT VENUE FROM THE OUTSIDE?
No. You can purchase water and/or refill at FREE water stations.
WILL WE BE ALLOWED TO LEAVE THE FESTIVAL AND COME BACK?

I cover about 175 festivals yearly in this fashion mostly Americana, Roots Music, Bluegrass and now Red Dirt Texas Country is included into my agenda, so you can be assured I will feature quality REAL MUSIC from many genres all over the United States! This festival began in 2008 and by 2013 it grew to a two day festival as the Texas and Oklahoma music scene began to flourish and present day Red Dirt scene is booming to a HUGE margin. Many websites are featuring more of it as mine started about three years ago to mix it in with what I feature on a regular basis, and with good response from my readers.
Hotels,I found an abundance of them HERE is a page of over 40 of them for you to choose from in Austin. There will be a parking fee of 10.00 per day and it clearly states if you park in an adjacent lot you will be towed away. Obviously this is NOT a camping type festival so you’ll need a hotel if you don’t live in this area.
