| I watched the “Applause For The Cause” and I will write about it and include the FULL 8 HOUR video below. This event was one of the many benefit concerts that different people and brands hosted all over Texas to raise funds for the Texas flood victims this summer. This year has been one hell of a crazy ride for natural disasters all over the country. This was held at the Whitewater Amphitheater in New Braunfels Texas on August 28th. It was organized by Robert Earl Keen and all of the artists donated their time here today, and apparently it was hot! Today, all of these proceeds in merchandise and ticket and food sales all went to this foundation I was told via media. Kazimi Opened the show and she played one original from her album in 2024 called “River Run” called “Everywhere”, and two covers. They were “Lean on Me” by Bill Withers and “Wild One” by Faith Hill. Then they had a hero of the local fixture there by the name of Max Stalling, who once left a prestigious career with a big snack company for songwriting in Texas. I got to research his albums to prepare for this article here, and I enjoyed two of his originals from various 2007 albums, those songs being “Comfort in the Curves” and “Travelin’ Lite”. Jason Boland, who played without the Stragglers (there was a house band more on that later), still sounded amazing as he played the title track from the 2008 album called “Comal County Blue”. Additionally, he played “Somewhere Down in Texas” and the other banger from that album called “Pearl Snaps”, which was the album title. YOU MUST go buy his new album called “The Last Kings of Babylon” right now, and if you click on the name in blue, it will take you to the website. Another name on the current female list of road dogs on tour right now is Kelsey Waldon, who also has released a REALLY GOOD album called “Every Ghost” this year. Both of the songs that I took note of were from this new album that she played. They were “My Kin” and another called “Falling Down”, which was released as a single I believe. Aaron Watson was another Red Dirt OG I discovered during his “The Road and The Rodeo” album, which was 2010. He began with his new single called “Getter Back Song”, and from his 2012 album called “Real Good Time”, he played “July in Cheyene”. From his 2015 Underdog album (which in my opinion is his best), he played “Freight Train”. At this time I want to talk a little about the house band today and tonight. Lloyd Maines , played all kinds of different instruments throughout the entire show. Folks, ONE BAND covered MOST of these artists!
