NASHVILLE, Tenn. – CMA and ACM award-winning and Grammy-nominated hitmaker, David Frizzell<\/a> along with The Voice Season 10 finalist, Mary Sarah<\/a> partner with Time Life<\/a> to release a new version of the iconic duet, \u201cYou\u2019re The Reason God Made Oklahoma<\/a>.\u201d Originally recorded by Frizzell and Shelly West in 1980, the song was included on the soundtrack for Clint Eastwood\u2019s film \u201cAny Which Way You Can\u201d and reached number one hit in 1981. In 2005, \u201cYou\u2019re The Reason God Made Oklahoma\u201d was included in CMT\u2019s 100 Greatest Duets in country music, reaching number six. Now in 2021, commemorating the 40th anniversary of the hit single<\/strong>, Mary Sarah joins Frizzell to bring new life to the classic love song.<\/p>\n

David Frizzell is one of the greatest voices in country music with a haunting resemblance to his older brother, the ultimate stylist, Country Music Hall of Fame member Lefty Frizzell. About David Frizzell:<\/u><\/strong>
\nDavid Frizzell was born in El Dorado, Arkansas, in 1941. He began touring with his legendary brother, Lefty Frizzell at the age of 12 throughout the 1950s and 60s. After serving in the Air Force, Frizzell signed with Columbia Records in 1970 and charted his first Billboard single with \u201cL.A. International Airport\u201d and then a Top 40 with \u201cI Just Can\u2019t Help Believing.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the 1970s, Frizzell appeared regularly on Buck Owens’ All American TV Show and began recording for Capitol Records. In 1981, he recorded his first number-one country hit, “You’re the Reason God Made Oklahoma,” a duet with Shelly West. The song won the Country Music Association’s Song of the Year and Vocal Duet of the Year awards in 1981, was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Country Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal, and was featured in Clint Eastwood’s film \u2018Any Which Way You Can.\u2019 Frizzell and West also won the Academy of Country Music award for Vocal Duo of the Year in 1981 and 1982.<\/p>\n

In 1982, Frizzell released \u201cI\u2019m Gonna Hire A Wino To Decorate Our Home,\u201d which made its way to number one.<\/p>\n

In recent years, Frizzell created his label Nashville America Records, and has released several albums including Frizzell & Friends: This Is Our Time<\/em> which includes a bonus track, written in honor of Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, and traditional music in general. \u201cLefty, Merle & Me\u201d features David with Marty Haggard.<\/p>\n

David Frizzell is a timeless and tireless entertainer who continues to share his many gifts to the delight of fans old and new across the US and throughout the world.<\/p>\n

About Mary Sarah:<\/u><\/strong>
\nWith more than 10 years of performing, you could say this young woman has been given a \u201ccoat of many colors\u201d. The fabric of her life brings forth a vast array of opportunities and experience. Mary Sarah was raised in the Texas Opry circuit where she first began defining and honoring her traditional country roots. She then went on to land a major touring role with Kidz Bop at the age of 12. Combining her touring experience with her love of traditional country music gave way to a once-in-a-lifetime album \u2013 duets featuring Country Music Legend\u2019s like Dolly Parton, Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard, Ray Price, and much more \u2013 all before the age of 18.<\/p>\n

In 2016, America embraced her on the #1 rated TV show in the country, The Voice. Her blind audition garnered her a 4-chair turn singing country\u2019s iconic \u201cWhere The Boys Are\u201d by Connie Francis – a tune that continues to garner standing ovations and whispers of the greatness of her mentors; Patsy Cline, Dolly Parton, and the likes of Carrie Underwood and Miranda Lambert. She quickly advanced onto Team Blake.<\/p>\n

Her undeniable talent and infectious spirit have since kept her in the spotlight. Since finishing 5th on of The Voice (Season 10) & serving as The Kohl\u2019s Greenroom Host (Season 11), the Texas ing\u00e9nue\u2019s opportunities have only expanded coming off the show to include her Grand Ole Opry debut, Ryman stage appearances touring across the United States and hosting Radio Disney’s Red Carpet coverage for the CMA Awards. She has graced the iconic stage of the Opry a total of 5 times since.<\/p>\n
