You guessed it everybody, I’m in full swing over here delving into festivals and local shows nationwide. So many tune into my website here for all the information on their favorite ones, and their favorite bands.<\/p>\n

My music work commences this weekend, as I cover Miss Elizabeth Cook at the Basement East. I have so many of these news articles out from festivals all over, and each time I get news on them, I update them weekly.<\/p>\n

\nYonder Mountain String Band will be performing 2 Nights (Sat. & Sun) for us at The Summer Music Festival at Roseberry Idaho!
\nARTIST LINE-UP SO FAR FOR 2021<\/p>\n

Yonder Mountain String Band is one of the most influential acts on the acoustic music scene. Pioneers of the Jamgrass movement, Yonder Mountain is known for their ability to channel a wide variety of musical styles. The acoustic lineup just happens to be the vehicle they\u2019ve chosen to haul their many influences ranging from punk rock to the Grateful Dead. With a willingness to try new things and do what the music demands, Yonder Mountain continues to expand the traditional genre beyond all established boundaries and into the realms of rock n roll and improvisation.<\/p>\n

Founding Members Adam Aijala, Ben Kaufmann, David Johnston and Allie Kral, who became an official member in 2015 are now joined by multi-instrumentalist Nick Piccinni. The live show will undoubtedly be in line with what you\u2019d expect from Yonder Mountain String Band: heart-felt, edgy and genre-defying music.<\/p>\n

Notorious for their wild live shows, choice cover tunes, and lengthy onstage experimentations, Yonder Mountain String Band earned an especially loyal audience on the jam band circuit. With a large following of fans known as \u201cKinfolk\u201d traversing the country with them, taping their shows and trading their music, the band gained momentum and found themselves playing to sold out crowds in iconic venues such as Red Rocks, The Fillmore San Francisco, The Warfield Auditorium, and esteemed festivals such as The Telluride Bluegrass Festival, Bonarroo, High Sierra, Fuji Rock Festival, Summer Camp and Delfest, to name a few. Yonder Mountain also partnered with promoters to curate their own festivals: Northwest String Summit (Oregon), Kinfolk Celebration (Colorado), Yonder Mountain Harvest Festival (Arkansas) and Strings and Sol (Mexico).<\/p>\n

Mipso – Since making their acclaimed debut with 2013\u2019s Dark Holler Pop, North Carolina-bred four-piece Mipso have captivated audiences with their finely layered vocal harmonies, graceful fluency in the timeless musical traditions of their home state, and a near-telepathic musical connection that makes their live show especially kinetic. On their self-titled sixth album and Rounder Records debut, fiddle player Libby Rodenbough, mandolinist Jacob Sharp, guitarist Joseph Terrell, and bassist Wood Robinson share their most sonically adventurous and lyrically rich work to date, each moment charged with the tension between textural effervescence and an underlying despair about the modern world.<\/p>\n

Mainly recorded at Echo Mountain in Asheville, North Carolina, Mipso finds the band joining forces with Sandro Perri (a musician\/producer known for his work with acts like Great Lake Swimmers, as well as his own post-rock\/experimental-electronic material). In overseeing the production process, Perri guided Mipso toward their goal of shaping a sonic landscape that was expansive and atmospheric yet surprisingly personal, even playful. To that end, the band dreamed up Mipso\u2019s resplendent textures by stretching the limits of their acoustic instruments, rather than employing outside musicians to create new sounds. The result is a body of work with spacious arrangements that gently illuminate the idiosyncratic details and refined musicianship at the heart of every song.<\/p>\n

John Craigie – Renowned for his eloquent Americana style, engaging live shows, and off-the-cuff clever observations, John Craigie carries on the legacy of classic singer-songwriters, while blazing a trail of his own.<\/p>\n

Recently, that trail twisted and turned into new territory for the Portland, OR performer who The Stranger appropriately dubbed, \u201cthe lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg.\u201d His music speaks loud to both audiences and fellow artists. Todd Snider notably hand-delivered a gift on-stage, and Chuck Norris has sent fan mail. His fifth full-length album, No Rain, No Rose boasted two collaborations with Gregory Alan Isakov, namely \u201cI Am California\u201d and \u201cHighway Blood.\u201d Both quickly cracked One Million Spotify streams and counting, as his knack for a captivating narrative and rustic aural palettes powered the 13-track offering together.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s about transparency,\u201d he explains. \u201cThe storytelling enables listeners to relate. Really good music doesn\u2019t make you feel good; it makes you feel like you\u2019re not alone.\u201d<\/p>\n

As No Rain, No Rose landed, he caught the attention of none other than Jack Johnson. Through a serendipitous series of events, Craigie\u2019s 2016 live effort Capricorn in Retrograde\u2026 Just Kidding\u2026 Live in Portland landed in Johnson\u2019s car stereo during a California coastal road trip.<\/p>\n

Shortly after, Jack reached out and Craigie soon found himself onstage for 12 shows during Johnson\u2019s 2017 summer tour including performances at The Greek Theatre in Berkeley, California and The Gorge in Washington state. Along the way, he earned acclaim from SF Weekly, Seattle Times, AXS, and more. Festival appearances also include Ohana Music Festival (CA), Mountain jam (NY), SXSW (TX), Electric Forest (MI), Summer Camp (IL), Kate Wolf Music Festival (CA), Pickathon (OR), Edmonton Folk Festival (AB), Kerrville Folk Festival (TX), Wanderlust (CA & VT), High Sierra Music Festival (CA) and more.<\/p>\n

When Craigie plays, it\u2019s one of those special shows that can make you laugh and cry in the same song. It\u2019s a musical journey that can\u2019t be denied.<\/p>\n

\nThe McCall Folklore Society has been working diligently to try and find a safe and responsible way to hold our annual event. The board has come up with a socially responsible festival by limiting ticket sales each night to less than half of our usual capacity and implementing POD seating.<\/p>\n

Guests can choose either a 10 person pod in a 20ft circle or a 5 person pod in a 10ft circle. These pods are sold online as a single reserved ticket for the whole pod, like choosing your seats at other seated events. You will be able to choose the pod(s) you want as they are available for each night.<\/p>\n

Guests will arrive and be asked COVID-19 screening questions, receive a temperature check, and enjoy the show from socially distanced pods. Please bring your own chairs for this event as seating will not be provided. The festival will also have other COVID-19 precautions like hand sanitation stations, social distancing marks throughout the grounds, and we will have FACE MASKS REQUIRED while outside of your pod and car. Our hopes are that we can continue to keep this local tradition alive through these hard times, but by doing it safely and with the health of our audience in mind while producing an amazing musical experience.
