Right now I am in the middle of my summer vacation reflecting on some live music I was at in Ohio, and today is the release day of a long line of record drops. I got a pile of stuff on my desk to go through, and enough time to do it all now. Here is some news about the long awaited full return of The Lost Dog Street Band, which rose from the ashes last year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

My dear readers, I have so much gong on over here on the website, there are so many festivals to keep track of and so many tours going on right now. Next week I go see Silverada headline their first Ryman show, news about Americanafest, Muddy Roots and more! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

As far as their latest album goes they released in 2024 called “Survived”. One of the first songs that got my attention was called “Divine To Be” which was a story song about lower Broadway in D. This song is so well written and so articulate, that every time I listen to it I find new meanings to the story. Much like Benjamin, I spent a lot of time on Lower Broadway. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

April 26, 2024 – Nashville, TN – Only a few years ago, songwriter Benjamin Tod, along with his wife and bandmate Ashley Mae, thought that their Lost Dog Street Band<\/a> <\/strong>had run its foreseeable course. They closed up shop and Tod focused his efforts on recording solo music, but old loves linger and eventually find a way. \u201cI thought I was done with Lost Dog, but after recording my solo album, I looked over all the songs that I had ready for a new record,\u201d remembers Tod. \u201cThese were songs for my band. I had to admit to myself that I wasn’t done with Lost Dog.\u201d Today, Lost Dog Street Band released a brand new full-length album, <\/strong>Survived,<\/em><\/strong> <\/em>on Thirty Tigers<\/strong>, much to the delight of the group\u2019s legion of dedicated fans. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The new, reinvigorated direction of Lost Dog Street Band began in the recording process when Tod decided to swap out their traditional recording style of overdubbing parts in favor of recording everything live. It was an experience he was introduced to during his solo album and found the process so successful that it, in part, led to his decision to revive Lost Dog. \u201cWe were able to finish the entire album in five days, and it has a remarkable energy to it,\u201d Tod explains. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBenjamin and I, both individually and together, have been through some professionally grinding and demoralizing personal times over the past five years,\u201d Ashley Mae explains. \u201cTo take a step back from that over the past year and realize, \u2018Wow, we held it down and withstood that, and we survived that,\u2019 was a really good, bright, shining moment. It was the high point during a demoralizing time.\u201d As such, Survived<\/em> is a saving grace, a phoenix rising from the ashes. \u201cThis record means everything,\u201d adds Tod. \u201cIt just feels like salvation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Benjamin Tod & Lost Dog Street Band Announce Shooting Star Tour For Fall 2024<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Nashville, TN – Hot on the heels of the release of their brand new album, Survived, <\/em>Benjamin Tod & Lost Dog Street Band<\/a> <\/strong>have announced their Shooting Star Tour dates beginning September 10th<\/strong>. Bringing their latest songs, deep Lost Dog cuts, and Tod\u2019s solo material to venues nationwide this fall, Tod & Lost Dog will kick things off in the deep South before heading to Texas and back up to the Midwest. West Coast dates begin at the end of October before a final run of shows culminates at St. Louis’ Delmar Hall.
