Back a few years ago up in Brown County Indiana, we used to have an OG festival called John Hartford Memorial Festival where I found a long long list of new bands (new at the time for me). This festival went on hiatus a few years back, and lately a few other places have used that similar brand like this one. But this one is being held at the Bluegrass Hall Of Fame And Museum in Owensboro Ky.

Join us for a special two-day celebration honoring the legendary John Hartford! This unforgettable weekend will feature a stellar lineup of artists, including the Sam Bush Band, Jamie Hartford, Rodney Dillard, Mike Compton, Alison Brown, Jim Lauderdale, Showman & Coole of the Lonesome Ace Stringband, and Oh Me Oh My Feat. Simontacchi, Long, Bub, & Cobb.

This institution is integral in my area of Kentucky, for the proliferation of Bluegrass Music as a whole. This museum is much like the Country Hall of Fame in Nashville, and it is no less important. On a national level it is indeed the national museum for Bluegrass and if you are a total music nerd like I am, you will agree that places like this are very important to music.

I always have a wonderful time watching Sam Bush play. He has so many albums to play songs from, and so many bands that he has been in, you never know what you’re getting on his show. He is a Bluegrass Legend or New grass or whatever genre you want to call him.
