This year has been a very important and pivotal year for independent music in many ways. Right now, I am witnessing a lot of the bands and artists I have loved from day to one become super juggernauts selling out arenas. The independent Country Music realm is currently undergoing a huge growth right now, in fact in the last 5 years it has grown exponentially in almost all aspects of the business.

But (and yep here is but) with that growth comes one problem…. oversaturation. And sometimes when you combine that with the price of travel and age and family growth, you get some of the most terrific bands come to an abrupt end. For now, I want you to read that term loosely for the sheer hope that we will see Town Mountain return in any fashion, because sadly they recently announced their hiatus.

They kind of left all that out in the open though, so as a fan I can hold on to the hope that one day even a livestream will one day pop up. I mean, hell, even Cross Canadian Ragweed is back! So, I know the guys are going to read this. I wanted to take this time to reach out to each and every member of this band on a personal level.

From Gary Hayes.

Thank You for letting me write about you for all these years and letting us buy tickets and shirts. You know, we love getting the royal media treatment. But I really really enjoy buying those tickets. Those are your friends. One of the top ten shows I have been to at the Ryman was none other than Town Mountain. I really and truly mean that.

I have been a fan of Town Mountain for many years and I consider you guys local legends of your area and mine, every time you some to Nashville I have always enjoyed my show. I am not really sure just how many of my readers do not actually know about this band, and maybe you’re reading this about them for the first time. Here is a brief history of Town Mountain in their 20 years of running!

They came from Asheville North Carolina and were founded by members Robert Greer and Jesse Langlais about fifteen years ago. Their new album from New West Records came out in 2024 and it was called “Lines In The Levee” is one of my personal favorite albums of all time. Now, I love all their classic old albums from like 2011. “Steady Operator” and such, but their last two studio albums were bangers.

This band has played coast to coast for many many years and a lot of festivals, because I remember them from Kickin It On The Creek and a few others. They became a Kentucky and Tennessee staple local band in all towns in between.

So in closing, I honestly hope with all my fan loving heart that you return in any way. Take my money!
