Aaron Watson Readies New Album “Horse Named Texas”.

I did not really become familiar with Aaron Watson until 2015 when he released “The Underdog”, which now I consider that album one of my top 50 favorites period. That album was very important to me because I am adamant upon the fact that this album broke barriers for this type of music breaking into the mainstream. Because this album was the first independent album to break into the TOP 100 charts.

Since then he has indeed put out some really solid albums, and this one is nothing short of great! This album will have a massive 26 track list, much like the Infamous Stringdusters and others. There are some lengthy albums coming out this year. Now, if I make that statement then you know this one is true: he has released a massive amount of singles now…yes. There are fourteen. Out of 26. I think these albums release too many singles before the album drops, don’t you?

“Old Houses” which he wrote with Lukas Scott and Troy Cartwright is about the old house you grew up in, all of the things you did as a kid that you remember doing there as you became an adult. This album is about all of the ups and down of his career and Aaron wanted to share his world with us.

One of the names I noticed on his album as producer was Phil O’Donnell, I met him years ago in Centerville Tn at a benefit show long ago.  All together there are some mighty fine names on this list as both musicians and studio people, and I eagerly await this March 6th album.
