Most all of you know that I keep track of more festivals than I can shake a stick at and for many years this one has been on my top list for the economic impact that it has on my area and on independent music overall. Festivals are very integral to the overall benefit of the spring and summer economy of many of my neighboring Kentucky and Tennessee counties.
Bristol is in my opinion not the birthplace of Country Music however I adamantly consider it to be the birthplace of RECORDED Country Music indeed. There were small cliques of music people all over the United States playing Country Music and whatever type it was. It is difficult to be a dedicated savant of music history and uncover ALL of it. I am going to say this: “Country Music began commercially in Bristol 100%”. More on this one soon.
