David Ball is a Country artist that has often been overlooked by many, and that to me just absolutely absurd. Throughout the 90’s when I got into the current Country scene, I often veered off into what was being called Alt – Country, and the more traditional artists like David Ball. At that time the artists that were playing the twangier Country were being pushed toward the forefront of the mainstream media music world. It wasn’t as segregated as it is now, and it certainly wasn’t hidden like it is now.
I was one of those young adults that became unhappy with all of that grunge music that was slowly leaking out from the west coast, and slowly out shadowing the Thrash Metal world at the time. Just about all of the Country Music from the early and mid 1990’s had a profound influence on me as a music fan, and it bridged a lot of gaps for me.
One of the best Country albums ever recorded in my time to me was “Thinking Problem” from 1994, and even though his song this article is talking about was released in 2001 on the Amigo album, many of his songs resonated well with me as a fan, and a music lover. Now, the Nashville Palace is bringing one of those wonderful storied to life.

Backstory
Earlier this spring, we received a message through the Contact page of this website from Jim, a retired Army Major. He wrote, “I have a 1966 red Corvette. I received the car from an army helicopter pilot in 1979. I’m given some thought to giving the car away to a deserving veteran and would wonder if you could help me figure out how to do it.”
After a few conversations with Jim, and seeing the immaculate condition of his car, we came up with a plan.
How You Can Win This Car
Please nominate someone who you think is a deserving veteran, who would appreciate this car. Tell us his or her story and why you think they should win. Please do it before August 15th. We will announce the winner at a special presentation dinner and concert at the Troubador Theater in Nashville TN on August 31st.
What You Need To Do
Please submit your nomination through the Contact form on this website. Include:
- Name, address, phone number & email address of the veteran that you are nominating
- His or her military rank, dates & locations of service to our country
- WHY you think this veteran is deserving of this vehicle
The winner will be notified shortly after August 15th and we will present the car on August 31st! We’ll share more details of the August 31st event as it approaches. Thank you Jim for this wonderful act of sheer generosity!
