I often times share with you, my readers about all of my life’s influences and all of the stories of how and why they interwind into my soul like they do. To be honest I think sometimes it causes me detriment because others do not view this as a legitimate website, and it is more of a personal blog. The fact is I don’t care HOW YOU view this website, as long as you GO BUY THE MUSIC. Go to the show and buy as much merch as you can afford to. These 3 guys are absolute Legends in their own right and I have NO qualms on dropping 100 to see them and buy a shirt.
Absolute plain and simple, these guys made Rockabilly (or whatever YOU call it) mainstream for its time. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame called their song “Rock This Town” out on their list of “Songs That Shaped Rock and Roll’. The only issue the band ever had was all of the hiatuses and reunions, and in time even I as a fan, came to accept it. If that makes any sense? They have been together for many years and even though Brain Setzer admitted that disbanding them at the pinnacle of their 80’s height was foolish, it happened….and their fans still followed.
We followed and I cannot speak for anyone else but I sure the hell can tell you WHY I have always overlooked that as a fan. HONESTY. REAL. Just solid ass, well-structured music that transcends more than one genre. These 3 guys (mind you I say 3) make more notes ring out than a lot of “average” 4- and 5-piece bands. The Stray Cats are and always will be a well-oiled machine of timeless Rock and Roll classics, delivered by 3 guys that I love very dearly. We have Mr. Slim Jim phantom coming to play at Muddy Roots and our fingers are crossed.
In 2018 and 2019 they were VERY active in Nashville by recording “40” and touring. They also recorded the live album called “Rocked This Town from LA to London” We wrote all sorts of various articles about that album and that tour. About a week ago, they announced a tour with all 3 original members to begin October 25th.
In my opinion Brian Setzer is one of the best guitarists still alive today, and that is just me as a music fan telling you how I feel about his talent. I have only met them a few times and I don’t know that aspect, but if he and the 3 original members bring this show anywhere near me…..TAKE MY MONEY!
