I spend a metric ton of time going through new albums, especially ones from the artists that I already am familiar with like Brit Taylor. Ever since she released her debut album called “Real Me” from 2020, I was instantly a fan. After the release of her second album called “Kentucky Blue” she proved to me that she is deep rooted in my current state of Kentucky, as I base this website out of Lick Skillet Kentucky. You can certainly add her to all of your Kentucky lists. She says: “If I didn’t have that in me, I wouldn’t still be chasing this dream. The people and the places are always making their way into my writing.”
She has announced a March 6th release date for this upcoming album and she has released two singles for the album that was produced by her husband and also a songwriter Adam Chaffins. I am particularly looking forward to this album because of that, as he last one was produced by Strugill Simpson.
I for one am really looking forward to this album from the two released singles called “Warning You Whiskey” and “All For Sale”. She has grown and evolved as a songwriter and an artist in my opinion and I am pretty sure you too will love what she does. Some mighty fine talent went into this album right here like Clint Daniels and Pat McLaughlin. Stuart Duncan on fiddle, mandolin and banjo, Justin Schipper on dobro and steel, Jedd Hughes on guitars and Chris Powell on drums.
Hey in the near future I also have some other Brit Taylor related news coming your way, regarding the venue downtown called Chief’s that Eric Church owns. It is a hell of a banger lineup on the poster and as soon as I delve into all of the information, I will tie them into each other.
From her website:
When writing “Warning You Whiskey,”—the latest single from Land of the Forgotten, out today—Taylor thought back on stories of strong-willed Appalachian women throughout her life. “They loved their men fearlessly, even when all they really deserved was a good ass-whoopin,” she laughs. “I love that the woman in this song is never mad at her man, but she’s madder’n hell at the bottle of whiskey in his hand.” Entering the studio with the goal of nailing a late ’80s-early ’90s country sound in mind, Taylor and Chaffins nailed the delivery with a swinging, 6/8 groove and a dynamic lift into each harmony-laden chorus. “I’m warning you, whiskey, stay away from that man.” “She’s willing to fight her man’s demons for him at all costs,” says Taylor of the song’s protagonist. “I’m not sure if it’s healthy, and a therapist probably wouldn’t recommend it, but that’s what these Appalachian women did. It’s what my mamaw did.”
Fans can stream or purchase “Warning You Whiskey” today at this link and check out Taylor’s previously-released single (and hilarious music video) “All For Sale” here.
