Every year since 2018, the folks over at Healing Appalachia have been knocking our socks off with their iconic lineup announcement and immense contributions to the Country Music community. Their message of hope beyond recovery is one that I myself know all too well being an addict. The East Kentucky and West Virginia music community is one that all of us appreciate in many ways, and we love the artists involved. Those reasons make this event a must support for me in any way I can.
One of the main reasons I make it such an important event is the fact that I feel I owe it to that particular music community for accepting me into their scene and reading my material about their music interests. Right now, I am in the middle of writing a long list of things for the West Virginia and East Kentucky crowd of music fans and artists and also various stuff for Texas flood victims.
I honestly and truly love and support these artists like Tyler Childers, who has played this event every single year. And in the next few upcoming weeks you will read a TON of information on Tyler Childers now. But in the past, some of the other artists that have played the festival are ones that I really enjoy, and I have many wonderful stories about them all.
Much like Sierra Ferrell, who hails from West Virginia and played this festival in the past, I too, am an addict and I loved heroin. I relate to her on that level compared to the level of sobriety that she maintains along with mine. I AM 5 YEARS CLEAN my friends…….I love each and every one of you. If YOU are reading this and you are lost in addiction REACH OUT to this organization. THEY WILL HELP. I promise you this.
I met these folks at Kicki’n It on the Creek in Irvine Ky one year and from then on it grew and morphed into a mega three-day festival. It got that way because people like you and I supported it in such a big way both online and financially. Another avenue that you will be reading more about on here, Byron Roberts is one of the reasons I know about this event from the get-go.
Mr. Charlie Hatcher, the director and his team reportedly sold 2,400 tickets to their first event and grew exponentially each year since then. According to other sources of media I use to retain my research, last year they sold 12,000 tickets and welcomed a crew of over 500 volunteers and produced over 4 million in revenue for the region to battle the opioid and fentanyl problems in America. They have donated 1 million in grants. 1 million folks…yeah. So after I show you their official video, I will talk about 2025.
So, let’s just dwell upon some of the ongoing news about the lineup that they announced for 2025. I am honest on this website, and I don’t fake or pretend anything on here. Had it not been for the influence of W.B Walker and J.J.Waters over at Honky Tonk Heros on Facebook, I would not have known about Tyler Childers as early as I did. I am not some wise music sage journalist…I was shown many of them too.
Through digging on my own as a journalist and as a fan I found many of these artists many years ago like Chris Stapleton who sang for the Steeldrivers first. “Hammer Down” is by far the greatest album the Steeldrivers ever made to date, and I just don’t think they can outdo it without him. MIND YOU this does NOT mean I dislike the current lineup or albums. The Steeldrivers are Legends in their own right. Yes.
I wrote about Blackberry Smoke on New Year’s Eve as me and Joshua saw them in Macon Georgia. I am always down for a good old fashioned Blackberry Smoke show. Hell Yeah. They are one of the bands that I truly do enjoy their new albums they release now, but their classic hits from over 10 years ago still resonate within me. All of these bands together are well worth this admission price, and even though I live in Kentucky, I am glad they chose to keep this event in West Virginia.
