The First Lady of Country Music Tammy Wynette Tribute Concert is coming to the Ryman for one night only on March 30, featuring Wynonna, Ann Wilson, The War and Treaty, Gretchen Wilson, Macy Gray, Lucinda Williams, Valerie June, Mandy Barnett, Tami Neilson, Katie Pruitt, Georgette Jones, and more to be announced.

I love these types of tribute shows that are emanating from Nashville all over the country, as I see a few Ray Price tribute shows out in Texas a long with ones for Lefty Frizzell and Tommy Duncan and more. You get to see these big Country stars sing the songs of the heroes that influenced them to do this job here. A lot of these artists in this bill have been very open about their personal demons and addictions, and as a fan I have been following many of them for years.

Tami Neilson put out a killer album last year called Neon Cowgirl which I thought was an amazing album overall, because it’s not really Country and it is not really Rockabilly it is just good music. I love to smoke one and put on the U-Haul Blues. If that isn’t Country influenced to you, you are dead wrong!

Lucinda Williams has a new documentary coming out called Finding Lucinda, which I will be reporting on further in the future. I also have an upcoming article for her new album coming soon called World’s Gone Wrong . She is another artist that has always been edgy but it is quite obvious that she was heavily influenced by County, and what Tammy Wynette exemplified.
