I have been a fan of this weeks featured artist Courtney Patton for a few years now. I first heard of her because of a Youtube video of her singing with her husband Jason Eady which I am also a huge fan of. I later saw her do a song swap with Daryl Dodd & Cody Jinks and there was no looking back she won me over and I have been a fan ever since. I hope you all enjoy her interview and music as much as I do. Please remember to like this page in orders to ensure you don’t miss any of the musician interviews coming up in 2018 and also please share this post cause the simple act of clicking share helps spread and strengthen the music that we all love.
Round 1 – I think everyone enjoys a good love story, can you tell us the story behind how you and Jason met?
Courtney – “Jason and I have been friends for years. I met him in Stephenville around 2007 when I opened the show for him. Several years later, we reconnected to write a song, we were both divorced, and we’ve been together ever since.”
Round 2 – I hear you have a new album coming out soon is there any details you can tell us about it?
Courtney – “I’m so excited! It’s called ‘What It’s Like to Fly Alone’. I produced it myself, which was fun and challenging. All songs are original with the exception of one cover, written by two of my friends. I hired a group of musicians I love and trust, and I think we made a great record. I’m also pressing vinyl for the first time, which is also exciting!”
Round 3 – What would be your advice to young musicians, especially girls that one day dream of following in your path?
Courtney – “Don’t let the fact that it’s harder for chicks in this business keep you from working as hard as you can. And always keep learning in playing and creating music. ”
Round 4 – I love animals so I ask everyone this question but do you have any pets, if so can you tell us about them?
Courtney – “We are dog people that can’t have a dog because if our touring schedule. So we have two rescue cats. Pepper was a gift to me in 2009 from the homeowners at a Habitat for Humanity build. Myra was an impulse adoption when Jason was out of the country. They’re funny to watch – domesticated lions!”
Round 5 – What is your favorite thing to do outside of the music World?
Courtney – “I love being a mom. I lead two very different lives. When I’m home, I cook, clean, decorate for holidays, host family gatherings, go to soccer and basketball games, and run around like crazy. I love structure and routine. I don’t get that with my job!”
Final Call – This is an open question so tell your fans and the people reading this whatever you would like them to know.
Courtney – “I am an incredibly sensitive person. I bet that’s pretty obvious, though. It takes pretty thick skin to do this for a living, and I don’t allow myself to be exposed to the negativity that other people might. I’m so lucky to have such loving, supportive fans. I honestly don’t think I could do this if it weren’t for them. Mean people suck!”
