These days I get literally thousands of albums to listen to during my factory workday, some of them end up being mediocre or I just omit them overall. Some of them are just downright remarkable on every front. I look for that fiddle sound, that warm flowing fiddle that compliments good lyrics.

Fiddles don’t always have to be those honky tonk double stops that push along a good twp step thumper, sometimes they are as warm as sunshine in spring. Last year Mr. Curtis Grimes released a GREAT album called “Acoustic Collection”, which contained 5 songs that sounded so 80’s…and so retro that I was flummoxed how I missed such a treasure.

Back in 2012, I ran across his album “Doin’ My Time” as I was finding all of the Texas bands like Mr. Aaron Watson, Mr. Ray Wylie Hubbard, Slaid Cleaves and more. I often see his music on many of my Red Dirt playlists, and a select few from Nashville.

See, even though I am based out of the Alt-Country and underground Country of Nashville, I’m deeply ardent on being a janissary of Texas music as well. We cover Rockabilly, and other genres as well, however altogether we cover the best underdogs in the music realms. Mr. Curtis is one of those ones that get looked over by some…and those people are wrong.
<div?>
They are wrong because this man’s music brings integrity to the Country Music lifestyle with this song, and touches on a few fibers of being that are all but fading away with today’s society. People are so sidetracked with fighting over religion and politics on social media, they forgot tipping their hat to ladies.
