It is indeed Labor Day weekend and you KNOW what that means? Muddy Roots. Although I do believe the first two were in May. I remember the first one was in May for sure as I reflected on it with an article I recently wrote for Larry and his Flask. I found them on this festival in that first year (like many of you reading this did).
I missed 2023 and I have attended every other year, however I am not as young as I used to be. This year I will most likely just attend one day and not overdo it. I used to be able to run around out there in that heat for 3 or 4 days and faced no repercussions , but now I get immediately sick and more. I DO plan to attend some I just don’t know when. I make this article every year where I share stories and remember old friends, and celebrate current ones.
This is a literal crapshoot weather wise. Bring hoodies and blankets and sweatshirts…..but bring shorts and stuff for it to be 100 and fuck you outside. DRY as dry can be or WET and MUDDY. BRING BOOTS FOR EITHER WITH HUNDREDS OF SOCKS AND FOOT POWDER. YOU WILL WALK A LOT. There is not much shade there and when it is hot the shade provided by the tent is hotter yet. The bar up top is called “Scooters” and it has AC, and REALLY GOOD food.
Here is a ton of information about this festival complete with answers to some questions I see on groups. LIKE: Yes, there is an ice truck that drives around. You CAN buy it up in the bar with tickets. Yes, I do believe the water truck will fill up pools. This is a VERY laid back and open minded ambiance but PLEASE use common sense, you know? You can bring knives to cook with, nobody cares but you cannot have knives on you near stages where our children are running around burning off energy. People want to drink and have fun without having to worry about weapons. I LOVE knives but not around kids, mine are grown but I do not want your child being hurt here or any other festival.
The Waterfall:
You may have heard about the waterfall we have next door? There are 2 of them, a small one and a bigger MUCH BIGGER one. It has an entire camping area and pavilion, though I have no idea if it will be open THERE WILL BE shuttles back and forth, PLEASE do not try to go park there it gets crazy.
