There has been unanimous support for Bill Lee and his proposal to rename the Nashville International Airport after Dolly Parton now, and people have been renting billboards and flying planes all over town in support of this….now…
She deserves this by all means but would SHE want that? I do not think she would want it, and to be honest with you I really don’t care for the idea much myself. I am just one of those people that do not believe in things like that, and honestly I do not think she did either.
In fact, I believe Dolly Parton is one of those people that would have donated millions to the airport in private, and none of us would have known. She just did so much for so many in Nashville and all around the world for that matter.
Dolly Parton to me was a very humble and loving person that was not interested in garnering a plethora of attention and self attraction. The funny thing about all of this was I JUST posted about the President renaming Lake Ontario.
Dollywood was a business move, and she was a savvy businesswoman in every shape of the art. Would she want schools and libraries named after her? I just cannot convince myself of that.
Am I saying she does not deserve this? Certainly not. Will I agree with the choice? No. Am I upset about it? No. Will I call it anything else? No. will I become offended if you do? No.
