These last few weeks I made quite a few of these articles for albums in 2024 that had anniversary dates and got new release special edition vinyl. We talked about Matt Woods, and The Dead South. The coolest re issue of 2024 and 2025 was by far the Willie Nelson album Phases And Stages. I suppose it helps for me to have such an insane taste in music that makes all of these anniversary issues so exciting for me.

It’s crazy . It is. I can still remember where in my life I was when I heard all of these albums for the first time! I can tell you where the band was at that particular time as well. As far as I am concerned at this time Randy was just beginning his signature sound here…he hadn’t quite found it yet

I think one of the many reasons I love this album so much, was because it was produced by none other than one of my favorites Radney Foster. Another big reason is because this is the last real self produced album before signing to Mercury Nashville. Another reason that I respect them and love them so much…this many years have gone by and the lineup is still Brady Black on fiddle, Geoffrey Hill on guitar, Jon Richardson on bass, Les Lawless has been on drums and Todd Stewart on all kinds of stuff like mandolin and etc..

All of the songs on this album were written by Rogers and Radney Foster but also another overlooked Red Dirt legend Wade Bowen. Also, Cody Canada contributed a lot to this album that got remastered and digitally re done. Now I am going to be brutally honest…my favorite album is “Nothing Shines Like Neon” but I would say “Rollercoaster” is my next favorite.

This past January the Randy Rogers Band played this album in it’s entirety with help from all of its collaborators like Wade Bowen who also recorded the song “Lay It All On You” on his iconic “Lost Hotel” album.  And let me tell you about the shit that sneaky dog Cody Canada is doing….he done went and re united Cross Canadian Ragweed!

Now speaking of Cody Canada he was there to help them do the song “Again” which is on the iconic “Soul Gravy” album from Cross Canadian Ragweed. They will be on the road in 2025 hard and heavy with Parker McCollum, Ian Munsick and Flatland Cavalry.

Here is the official press release:
