From the desk of Gary Hayes:
I am going to be completely honest here with this one folks, I only liked half of his albums and music overall. However the relevance of this being released on the day of his death is one of the kindest things the promotion company could have done.
Throughout the years, he recorded some damn fine Country albums and a metric ton of Pop Country and even some old school rock. His 1978 album “The Gambler” spawned one of his most beloved songs ever was actually not the greatest album of his career on my terms, in fact the only perfect album he ever released was the 1980 concept album called “Gideon”, about a Texas cowboy looking back on his life.
In 2017, the Country Music community gathered together for a night of music at the Bridgestone arena for this blessed event that commemorated the life of Mr. Kenny Rogers. His peers from past and present all attended the event and played his songs in front of him, as he announced his retirement from the music industry.
The former front man for the Bluegrass band the Steeldrivers, whom has acquired much attention as a solo artist Mr. Chris Stapleton contributed a beautiful rendition of the song Mr. Don Schlitz wrote called “The Gambler”. I am extremely big on enjoying the songwriter side of Country Music, and I have met and admired those men and ladies that have penned those wonderful songs for decades.
