So this past year has been a difficult time for our friends in East Kentucky the Roberts family, whom have contributed to the local music community in the Appalachia region of the nation. Byron Roberts is one of the many people responsible for all of the years of Kickin It On The Creek. How many of us have enjoyed our weekend out there deep down in that holler with all of those wonderful bands?

Recently I published another one for him but I wanted to revisit this subject to include some of the events next weekend that are transpiring around in the area on his behalf, as they are trying to raise money for medical expenses and other things to take care of.

This entire family brought me in and allowed me to be a part of their local music community and shared all of their bands with me. Just a litany of bands I have found as a result of him and what he was doing out there, and he did every bit of it for the benefit of the music. There are so so many people behind the scenes that make all of these shows and festivals possible.

Byron Roberts is one of the most loved and REAL people in the realms of music that I have ever encountered in my time. So right now I don’t think he will mind one bit if I begin to talk about the places and the bands involved. All of the artwork involved has been done by the man himself Jimbo Valentine!

Next weekend at Manchester Music Hall many of the bands that Byron helped bring into the world of local music will be converging together for one fantastic evening of music, and may people are making this into an entire weekend deal here. A few of them have released some damn fine albums last year and I also wanted to talk about them here.

Buffalo Wabs And The Price Hill Hustle is one of those aforementioned bands from Cincinnati Ohio. Even tough I am very educated on many of the bands from that area, and I have done a lot of work out at what was Bobby Mackey’s ( which is being rebuilt ), I did not know about them until I started going to Kickin It On The Creek.

Matt Wabinitz, Casey Campbell, Scott Risner, and Bill Baldock make up this band here, and like I said even though I knew about Dallas Moore and The Tillers and others, I did not know about them. Their new self titled album called was featured on my honorable mentions for 2024, and it is chocked full of great new songs that I watched on YouTube live.

Big Badness Sean Whiting And The Big Badness have a killer new album out from 2023 called “Metamorphosis”, and I strongly urge you to check into that one.  Along with Sean is Austin Lewis, Trevor Litteral, Tommy Oney and Sam Rogers.
