You know folks me and Mr. Joshua Morningstar only go back a few years but honestly I have saw him in more states and venues than many of the bands I cover on this website. There’s one main reason that is so, I truly admire his talent and I value his friendship.

I think Out Of The Box Entertainment has been doing a wonderful job promoting his shows and his music, at least from a fan’s point of view. I have been blessed to have been a part of so many music shows with Mr. Joshua included in them, I cannot even recall all of them.

I remember one year at a festival we were watching Ray Wylie Hubbard play his set and some random drunk guy tried his best to start a fight with me, no reason he just wanted to fight..and i just stared at him and laughed. Guy was quite comical, anyways Mr. Joshua just leaned forward and said “I had your back buddy” and we both laughed.

I shared many motels with this man and honestly I usually always got a place for him to sleep in whatever state I’m in at whatever show. Festivals, Douglass Corner, Bobby Mackey’s, some place in Illinois, Heck I saw him in more venues than I can remember like I said. Opryland, Crooked Smile Fall Fest, Altamont. I first heard this song played live at the V Club in Huntington West Virginia this spring. So now, here is some NEW MUSIC from my 2015 Artist Of The Year.

NEW SONG “MERLE HAGGARD DIED TODAY” BY SINGER/SONGWRITER JOSH MORNINGSTAR SERVES AS A MEMORIAL TO THE COUNTRY MUSIC ICON.

Nashville, TN – The day Merle Haggard passed away the country music world shook. Everyone was hit with the untimely death of a music icon. Some posted on Facebook and other social media, Josh Morningstar wrote a song. Morningstar, a veteran musician from Funkstown, Maryland, didn’t just mourn the passing of an icon, he mourned the death of one of his biggest influences as a country artist.

Josh said, “Merle Haggard was one of my favorite artists. His influence and his fingerprint is all over my music. The day he died it affected me, just like it did millions of others. I sat down and wrote a song, “Merle Haggard Died Today” I hope you enjoy it.”

An early video of “Merle Haggard Died Today” with Morningstar singing and playing an acoustic guitar on camera, which he debuted on his Facebook page the day Merle Haggard passed away, has garnered 34,000 views on his FB page, and 167,000 views and 5,400 shares on We Hate Pop Country Facebook page, in the first days he posted the video.

“Merle Haggard Died Today” will be available exclusively at the independent music artist site Bandcamp beginning June 17th at Joshuamorningstar.bandcamp.com.
