I had the pleasure of taking ‘5 Shots’ with the very talented Erin Enderlin today & I am proud to bring you the results of that & introduce you all to this amazing singer/songwriter.
Round 1 ~ How long have you been a singer songwriter and how did you 1st get started?
Well, I was that weird kid. I fell in love with country music super early. I even took a Conway Twitty record for show and tell in kindergarten. By the time I was in 4th grade I was writing songs and performing them for my music class. Then I started playing shows in public at 16.
Round 2 ~ What is your motivation to keep going when times seem hard?
The folks I’ve met that tell me stories of how they’ve connected with my songs is a big motivator. Seems like whenever it’s toughest, somehow someone gets sent my way with encouragement. Also, I think about how much music has meant to me and what would’ve happened, what I would’ve missed, if my heroes had given up. Plus my sister says I can’t quit or she’ll kick my butt haha.
Round 3 ~ When did you get your first quitar and how did you learn to play?
I played around on my parents guitar really young, then started playing the piano at 5. I got my own guitar and started taking lessons at 13. My guitar teacher Terry Holmes was amazing and was a huge influence on me. He really encouraged me in my writing and was the first person to explain to me you really can write and sing as a profession. He passed away from cancer when I was 16. While he was in treatment he wrote me letters encouraging me to follow my dreams and saying that he really believed I could do it – he’d played with several Nashville artists before moving to Arkansas. I still have them.
Round 4 ~ If you had to say one person, who would you say influenced your musical style the most?
Reba
Round 5 ~ What is your favorite thing to do outside of music?
Drink coffee and hang with my friends.
Last Call….Open message to your fans
I’m excited to announce that I have a new single “Ain’t It Just Like A Cowboy” coming out August 11th. I can’t wait for everyone to hear the album Whiskeytown Crier coming out September 1st. It is everything I ever wanted in an album. I was basically a kid in a country music candy store!!
