Hello, my dear friends…many of you that know me personally already know that I will soon be looking at retirement from my job in the next 5 years or so. I am physically beat down now pretty bad, and I just cannot tell you how many more years I will work. So, with that being said this is my plan for my future retirement. This website and that road and this keyboard are going to be my final plan in the end years, and I know that it’s going to take a lot more work to get there but I will get it done.
I’m here in Valdosta, Georgia with Joshua and we are getting all of our tools we need ready to tackle this job. We will be headed toward the festival about 3 today and I will have all many of my pics on other avenues of social media like Instagram and the like. Right off I 75, you have the Spirit Of The Suwannee Music Park in Live Oak, Florida, where twice a year this festival transpires.
Right now, I am trying all kinds of different marketing strategies and places to feature ads while still studying the music and the science of it all. With new places and new faces, you find new music and that is what I love to do. And yes folks, just as I have been talking about it for weeks now, I will be traveling to Florida to see some Jamgrass and whatever else you want to call it…I just call it GOOD MUSIC. I wanted to stop for a moment and tell you about a few of the bands that I am beyond excited to see.
Grandpa’s Cough Medicine is a band that came out in the underground scene in 2012, and I think Shooter Jennings showed me them at Muddy Roots one year? Anyways, I heavily consider them to be an OG Roots band especially their 2015 banger. But in time, comes change. Brett Bass and the band took a long hiatus and decided to bring us a NEW album last year, with a new direction.
I’m not precisely sure what sort of politics or situations occurred, and this isn’t a drama site. I don’t do the clickbait shit here. I’m simply saying that I like the past albums, and I enjoy the new one. It might not be for you, and that’s COOL, I get it…Don’t Poke The Bear…and he doesn’t mean Yogi. I don’t agree 100 % with all of the lyrics, and I am OK with that because I can certainly appreciate the music as being just as edgy as it was before…but this time it was a little more polished. I cannot wait to see them live.
The Po’Ramblin Boys Ohhh I am genuinely excited to see this genuine Bluegrass band from East Tenneessee formed in 2014. Their album from last year called “Wanderers Like Me” gathered much attention from sources like mine, and their pure and honest sound is what makes them so amazing.
I truly hope they play the song “Hickory, Walnut And Pine”, from their 2019 banger of an album called “Toil, Tears And Trouble”. This festival gives a lot of attention to the underdogs of the local Bluegrass community, and I think that is really important. I have an ongoing mission to integrate the many sub communities of different genres of music, and I have been quite successfully doing just that.
Peter Rowan is an absolute Legend in my eyes. He played previously at Muddy Roots and played a banger of a show that night, and he is just an absolute treasure that we still have to enjoy. One of his most beloved songs is “Panama Red”, and it is from his 1978 album.
He could absolutely play for hours if he chose to, and there would most likely still be songs I want to hear. And absolutely I feel the same about Sam Bush. I so dearly loved New Grass Revival, and I don’t care about what the purists say about him, nobody can even attempt to dispute his importance and his influence.
This man made being different cool. And he also made standing up to the establishment cool. He chose to pave his own direction in the world of music, and in doing so, he became one the juggernauts of Bluegrass music.
The Infamous Stringdusters are an iconic band formed in 2006. And they are one of those Jamgrass bands with the hour long instrumentals that I enjoy, and they will be playing multiple sets all weekend. The overall synopsis of this festival is this format. Every band on this lineup is playing multiple sets all weekend.
I’m going to be working on this article further in the next 7 days….stay tuned..
