On Wednesday October 25th Nashville will gather to celebrate the life and career of Mr. Kenny Rogers, and will include a star studded lineup of the latest reuniting of Miss Wynonna and Miss Naomi Judd, Chris Stapleton and MORE. To be honest when it comes to the spectrum of Country Music, there isn’t anything that Mr. Kenny HASN’T DONE to proliferate the genre. To be honest in my opinion a lot of his music is a prime example of pop country for it’s time frame, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing really. Pop country of that particular time frame was indeed less hokey and fake as it is now, it’s basically apples and oranges in comparison.
He has charted over 120 singles, sold over 100 million albums and remained on charts for over 200 weeks total in his almost 60 year career. In 2003 he garnered a lifetime achievement award from the CMA. He has amassed an uncanny amount of awards from the ACA, CMA, ACM, and Grammy awards.
He is equally known for his movie adaptions of his songs like “The Gambler” and “Coward Of The County”., his role as guest on the Muppet Show and many more movies of the 70’s and 80’s. When it was announced he was retiring from music and performing, the music industry decided to put on this tribute show in his honor.
